Dr. Bill uses a variety of chiropractic techniques. Some people love the sensation and the adjustment ‘sound’ of the neck or other parts of the spine being adjusted hands on and with a quick specific adjustment. Other people do not like the sound or the sensation. Dr. Bill has multiple ways to adjust and satisfy both categories. Dr. Bill will work with each individual to perfect technique for you and your children.
The following techniques are the ones that Bill uses (this may sound like Greek to some of you, while others of you will want to know the exact technique this office uses):
Tonal Toggle: This method combines toggle, one of the oldest of techniques, with a ‘tonal’ or more sensitive and in-touch with the body approach, whereby the practitioner gets signals from the body as to what and how to adjust.
Infant Toggle: To facilitate infant toggle, a gentle infant head piece goes around the neck of either Dr. Bill or the Mommy or Daddy, you choose. Bill makes sure that no twisting of the neck occurs.
Infant/Toddler Adjusting: For children under two or one (each child is different ), parents actually hold their child during adjustments and assist in the muscle testing of the child. Most children love to be adjusted, and often ‘fight’ over who gets to go first!
Activator: This is a handheld, gentle instrument that Bill uses to do adjustments on sensitive areas or sensitive people.
Diversified: The image that comes to mind when you think of chiropractic may be this technique. It is a classic, hands-on adjustment of the full spine.
Gonstead: This is a full spine technique. Dr. Bill only uses the Gonstead technique on the lower back, not on the cervical spine. Gonstead’s neck adjustments are done seated, Dr. Bill prefers to do that with the patient lying down.
Pierce: This technique relies upon the use of drop pieces within the table, Dr. Bill uses it especially with a focus on the neck curve
Thompson: This technique also relies upon the use of drop pieces within the table, Dr. Bill uses this technique especially with a focus on the pelvis.
B.E.S.T.: Another tonal or energy technique. This technique only employs gentle touch. The practitioner performs it by using light touch on the base of the skull and elsewhere as needed.
SOT (Sacral-Occipital Technique): Dr. Bill uses this technique on pelvic through occiput (the base of the Skull) regions of the body. This is a technique in which the practitioner interprets the needs of the body based on a specific protocol.
Cranial Sacral: This gentle stimulation of the parasympathetic nervous system is very often what a newborn needs most. It helps to ‘calm down’ the nervous system and the infant. It is also used on adults, particularly those experiencing above average amounts of stress.
Trigger Point Therapy: Extremely effective prior to an adjustment and essential to change the ‘muscle memory’ of misaligned vertebrae and spinal muscles, Dr. Bill uses this technique to stimulate trigger points that relieve knots and/or muscle spasms.
Extremity Adjusting: Yes, Dr. Bill adjusts pretty much all the joints in the body as well: fingers, wrists, elbows, shoulders, knees and feet.
TMJ (Temporo-Mandibular Joint, aka Jaw Joint): Yes, Dr. Bill works on these as well, and teaches the TMJ sufferer how to work on it independently as well.
There is a licensed and awesome massage therapist who works at Dr. Bill’s office providing a variety of massages: Deep tissue, Swedish, rehabilitative, etc.
